I found CrossFit at nearly 500 pounds and was pretty convinced I couldn’t do it. What I found was strength, community, and eventually a career built around helping more people believe they belong in this space.
Today, I’m a coach, affiliate owner, and creator of Working With Larger Bodies, a CrossFit CEU-approved seminar that helps coaches better understand larger-bodied athletes’ experiences. I’m also the author of Lifting the Wait, and my story and work have been featured by the CrossFit Journal and Good Morning America.
Education has changed my life, both as an athlete and as a coach. That’s why Coaches Congress matters to me. It puts you in a room with people who have actually done the work. They’ve built gyms, coached classes, gotten things wrong, fixed what wasn’t working, and are willing to share what they learned. You leave with ideas you can take home and use, but you also leave remembering how much better we all get when we stop trying to figure everything out alone. I know what the right coach can change in someone’s life. I’m living proof of it.
As the United States Ambassador, I’m excited to help more coaches find their way into that room, share what they’ve learned, and keep raising the standard together.
I live in St. Paul, Minnesota, with my two four-legged kids, who keep me laughing, covered in fur, and very clear about who actually runs the house.
